Thank you so much for waiting for a long time. I'm finally going to start walking in Seoul with you in earnest. Today, we will start at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul, pass through Seoul Plaza and Myeong-dong Main Street, and walk to Yejang Park in Seoul. The total walking distance is about 5.8km. You can see various Christmas lights in the video. Let's walk together! ????

Myeongdong (Korean: 명동; Hanja: 明洞; lit. 'bright cave' or 'bright tunnel') is a dong in Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea between Chungmu-ro, Eulji-ro, and Namdaemun-ro. It covers 0.99km² with a population of 3,409 and is mostly a commercial area, being one of Seoul's main shopping, parade route and tourism districts. In 2011, 2012 and 2013, Myeong-dong was listed as the ninth most expensive shopping street in the world. The area is known for its two historically significant sites, namely the Myeongdong Cathedral and the Myeongdong Nanta Theatre.

Seoul, South Korea and Tokyo, Japan

Not only are they two of the most important cities in Asia, they're two of the most important cities in the world. Both the biggest in their respective countries, and yeah, both dominate politically, economically, and culturally in their respective countries. It's really hard not to be overshadowed by them. About 25% of all Japanese residents live in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Oh yeah, and that metropolitan area is THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD, with 37.8 million people. Sooooo many people.

But Seoul has the fifth largest metropolitan area in the world. Look at all THOSE people. Wow. It has a population of around 25.6 million people. And even though it only makes up about 12% of South Korea’s total area, it’s home to almost HALF of South Korea’s total population. Woahness.

Both are the capitals of their respective countries. Both are filled with magnificent modern buildings that could easily provide a reliable backdrop for any film set in the near-future. Why? Because war devastated both cities during the 20th century.

Even though both are megacities, both are surprisingly clean and sleek.

Both are all about trade, leading the world in both exports and imports. It’s easy to get around in both cities. Both have amazing public transportation, and huge rail networks. Tokyo has the busiest metro system in the world, and Seoul has the third busiest. Tokyo is famous for having so many people packed onto subways during rush hour that they literally have to be pushed onto trains to fit. The city has pushers, or railway station attendants who push people onto trains so they fit. Yes, this is real footage. Public transport is cheaper in Seoul.

Both are two of the most visited cities in the world. (T-8th most, S- 10th most)

Both have a fairly homogeneous ethnic population. Most Seoulites are Korean, and most Edokkos are Yamato Japanese. Now, this is starting to change since the foreign born population in both cities has steadily increased in recent years.

Most Koreans are friendly. This is a story that some foreigners have experienced. Discrimination exists in any society. I just wanted to say that we should work to improve even that little discrimination.
And this video was filmed before, but we couldn't upload it. So I found it and uploaded it. However, it is an ongoing story.

Today, we're going to walk for about an hour and 23 minutes(5 km) on Teheran-ro, Gangnam, Seoul in the rainy morning (Sinnonhyeon - Gangnam - Yeoksam - Seonreung - Samseong - COEX - Bongeunsa). In the video, you can see the roads flooded by autumn leaves and office workers going to work at companies in Teheran-ro, Gangnam. Teheran-ro (translation "Tehran Boulevard") is a street in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea. It runs from Gangnam Station through Yeoksam-dong and into Samseong-dong. It is colloquially known as "Teheran Valley" (after Silicon Valley) due to the number of internet-related companies operating there. The district of Gangnam-gu experienced phenomenal growth and waves of construction, with Teheran-ro becoming one of the busiest streets in South Korea. Its counterpart, Seoul St. in Tehran, Iran, runs in the north of that city, close to the Evin district.

Teheran-ro is a 3.5 km section of Seoul City Route 90, and runs eastwards from Gangnam Station to Samseong Station and the COEX/KWTC complex. Yeoksam and Seolleung stations are also on Teheran-ro. All stations are on Seoul Subway Line 2.

Some of Korea's tallest skyscrapers and most expensive real estate are in Teheran-ro, while Seoul Metropolitan Government estimates that more than half of Korea's venture capital, some 200 billion won (approximately $200 million), is invested in Teheran Valley.

On 27 June 1977, the Seoul Metropolitan Government suggested that the city of Seoul and Tehran, pre-revolutionary Iran exchange the names of streets on the occasion of the visit to Korea of Gholamreza Nikpey, Mayor of Tehran. The following year, Samneungno street was renamed Teheran-ro, which then ran through a relatively underdeveloped area that been annexed into Seoul in 1963.
